MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Today the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce released a video featuring a 60- second “highlight reel” of benchmarks of progress that have been achieved through the Chamber’s Imagine a Greater Montgomery Strategy. The video also defines the four goals of the strategy and discusses the areas of work the Chamber will focus on in the strategy’s third phase.

The video can be viewed on the Chamber’s website at montgomerychamber.com or on YouTube at http://bit.ly/ImagineHighlights.

Among the achievements highlighted are 9,415 announced jobs by new and existing industry; 1,000 employees at 65 companies trained through the new Montgomery Regional Workforce Development Center; more than $2 billion in capital investment by announced new locations and expansions; 12,000 entrepreneurs and small businesses mentored, counseled and trained; and a whopping $1.4 million in daily spending by visitors. In addition, the creation of Alabama’s only open internet exchange, one of only four in the Southeast, was hailed among the accomplishments. These numbers represent announcements from 2010 to present.

The video goes on to feature local business and elected leaders expanding on each to the following Imagine Strategy Goals:

    • Build Competitive Regional Talent

    • Transform Image & Quality of Place
    • Build Diverse Community Capacity

The Chamber’s 2017 Board Chair David B. Reed explained, “At the end of the day for the Chamber, it’s always been about jobs and seizing opportunities, and there are some unprecedented opportunities at hand right now in terms of creating jobs and furthering prosperity for our entire region.”

Leslie Sanders, Vice President Southern Division, Alabama Power Company, added, “Montgomery is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the opportunities that lie before us based upon what we’ve accomplished in the past, and I think the Imagine campaign is so important to make sure that we strategically lay out where we want to go, how we want to get there, and the time frame that we’re going to do that.”
