Serving as a catalyst for economic development, a World-Class Whitewater and Outdoor Lifestyle center opened in July 2023 at the Maxwell Capital Gateway to Montgomery, along the I-65 corridor. The development is anchored by an Olympic-standard recirculating whitewater course, which allows users of all ages and skill sets to participate at difficulty levels ranging from beginner to expert. The park will also include a variety of dry-side outdoor activities such as climbing areas, zip lines, ropes courses, and trails for hiking and biking. Montgomery Whitewater has already begun to host festivals, competitions, and weekly activities. Hospitality amenities will include a conference cente and other gathering spaces, all designed to invite people to relax by the channels and enjoy a day (or night) in the outdoors. The facility will be available for camps, team-building events, and swift water rescue training for first responders from Montgomery and around the country.
This transformative project will spur economic development, dramatically add to the lifestyle of residents, fuel continued tourism growth, help to enhance the lives of military families, and make Montgomery a more attractive destination for a talented workforce that prioritizes quality of life when selecting a place to live and work.
Phase One of Montgomery Whitewater, including two world-class engineered whitewater channels, an outfitter and store, and the 500 seat Eddy's Restaurant, opened on July 7 2023.
