Montgomery Zoo & Mann Wildlife Learning Museum Temporarily Closed to Public Beginning March 14, 2020

MONGOMERY, AL – For the care, safety and concern of our staff, volunteers, guests and animals the Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum will close to the public as of 5:00 pm, Friday, March 13th until further notice. This measure was taken to prevent the potential spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19) following recommendations from City of Montgomery, Montgomery City/County EMA, ADPH officials, and CDC guidelines.

“While this was not an easy decision to make, senior Zoo staff and city officials believe this temporary closure is in the best interest of our staff, volunteers, animals and most importantly our guests,” Zoo Director, Marcia Woodard said.  “This is a very fluid situation and we are in close communications with the Mayor’s office and EMA officials.  We are hopeful that new CDC guidelines will allow for the prompt reopening of our facility,” she went on to say.

All events, birthday parties, school fieldtrips, group outings, Behind the Scenes Encounters, etc. have been cancelled until further notice.  Staff is working diligently to contact everyone with online admission purchases, group and facility reservations, etc. through the end of March to reschedule their visit to a future date.

Zoo staff will report to work on a daily basis to ensure the care and wellbeing of the animals and facilities is not interrupted.  During the closure the Zoo will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
