Montgomery Chamber Engages in National Defense Community Initiatives at 2025 ADC Annual Summit

This week, the Montgomery Chamber’s Military Affairs team is in Arlington, Virginia, attending the American Defense Communities (ADC) Annual Summit. This important event brings together leaders from defense communities across the country to discuss emerging priorities, share best practices, and collaborate on strategies that strengthen military installations and the regions that support them. Montgomery’s participation ensures that we stay informed, engaged, and proactive in our efforts to support our military partners and advance our community’s role as a national defense hub.

    Why ADC Matters for Montgomery
The ADC Summit provides an opportunity to gain direct insight into the new administration’s defense priorities and the potential impacts on communities like Montgomery. Understanding these policy shifts allows us to better support our military partners, ensure the continued success of Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, and advocate for programs that enhance military-community relationships. A key focus of our engagement at ADC is staying updated on the latest initiatives from the Department of Defense’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (DOD OLDCC). This office plays a crucial role in supporting military installations through funding programs like the Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP), which helps local communities invest in projects that improve infrastructure and quality of life for service members and their families.

    Learning, Collaboration, and Advocacy
Beyond policy updates, the ADC Summit is a platform for learning from other defense communities facing similar challenges. By exchanging ideas and innovative solutions, we gain fresh perspectives on strengthening military-community partnerships, supporting workforce development, and enhancing the overall well-being of service members and veterans. This type of collaboration is invaluable, helping us refine our approach to military support while identifying opportunities for growth.

Montgomery’s Ongoing Commitment to Military Support
Montgomery has a proud history of supporting the military, and our presence at ADC is another step in ensuring we remain at the forefront of defense community initiatives. Our city is home to Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Air University, and a thriving network of military-related industries, and we are committed to fostering an environment where service members and their families can thrive.

By actively engaging in national conversations, leveraging strategic opportunities, and strengthening our collaborations, Montgomery continues to set the standard for military-community partnerships. We look forward to bringing back valuable insights and strategies that will benefit our military partners, enhance infrastructure and economic development, and keep Montgomery a premier defense community for years to come
