MONTGOMERY, AL (Nov. 26, 2024) — The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce's strategic vision to establish the Capital Region as a premier technology hub achieved a major milestone with DC BLOX's recent announcement of a transformative $30 million data center investment. A leading provider of digital infrastructure across the Southeastern United States, DC BLOX selected Montgomery as one of three new hyperscale edge node sites—alongside North Augusta, South Carolina and Huntsville, Alabama—marking a strategic advancement in both the company's regional expansion and Montgomery's emergence as a key technology corridor.
“Our continued expansion is a testament to the soundness of our strategy and our deep understanding of the Southeastern market,” said Jeff Uphues, CEO of DC BLOX in a recent release from the company. “With each new site, we are building critical digital infrastructure that enables hyperscale companies to operate at the edge while benefiting from the Southeast’s favorable economics and rapid growth.”
Located in Interstate Industrial Park, the new Montgomery data center will deliver 5MW of capacity for a hyperscale anchor tenant, with the potential to scale up to 40MW for additional tenants. Hyperscale data centers often support big data-producing companies like Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and others.
"This landmark investment validates Montgomery's emergence as a dynamic technology corridor and showcases our team’s successful strategy to attract transformative digital infrastructure," said Montgomery Chamber President and CEO Anna Buckalew. "Through strategic partnerships with city, county and state leaders, we've created an environment where technology companies thrive. DC BLOX's decision to invest here signals to the global tech sector that Montgomery is ready to power their future growth."
The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, which has championed this project since 2018, has strategically positioned the region to capture growing demand for digital infrastructure investment.
