Montgomery, Ala. – April 8, 2021 – This Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers joined Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce leadership and the local business community at the Chamber’s first in-person Washington Brief (formerly Eggs & Issues) event of the year. Rogers, who serves as Ranking Member of the Armed Services Committee, asserted his firm commitment to continued increases in funding to rebuild and modernize the military, voiced his support for infrastructure funding as well as his concerns about non-infrastructure related spending in President’s proposed plan, and what to expect during the remainder of the federal legislative year. Rogers also took questions from the crowd about Montgomery’s opportunity related to the future growth of space initiatives and the repatriation of manufacturing from foreign countries as an issue of national security and economic development.
Rogers praised Montgomery area leadership for its forward-thinking initiatives to pursue public-private partnerships to support Space related initiatives: “No other Chamber in my Congressional district can do what this Chamber does. There’s enormous commercial potential in Space that people aren’t even thinking about. The fact that you’ve got professionals thinking about those things is smart.”
Silver Sponsors for the Chamber’s Washington Brief with Rep. Rogers were Alabama Municipal Electric Authority, Montgomery Area Association of Realtors, and PowerSouth Energy.
