More than $204 million in announced investment and 1056 announced new jobs among new and existing industry celebrated on Success Starts Here Tour
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Today the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce held its eighth annual Success Starts Here bus tour, which recognizes expanding industries that have made significant investments year-to-date. The $204,929,270 in investments and 1056 new jobs these industries have announced have helped secure 7,393 existing local jobs.
“Montgomery’s existing industries are key to sustained growth in our economy, and the Montgomery Chamber’s Success Starts Here tour is a way to thank them for creating more jobs, diversifying our economy and expanding opportunities in our city, said Montgomery Chamber Board Chairman David Reed.
Success Starts Here attendees included elected officials, community business leaders and local media. Following a news conference at the Montgomery Chamber, attendees boarded a bus to travel to the three existing industries highlighted on the 2017 tour: JET Polymer Recycling, Montgomery Coca-Cola Bottling Company, a Division of Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, and Regitar U.S.A, Inc. The three companies were selected not only because they have expanded, but also because they represent a diverse range of business types found in Montgomery.
“We commend Montgomery's business community on another successful year. The significant increases in investment, which created and secured thousands of jobs, not only affect the strength and stability of industry here in the River Region, but also affect the viability of our community as we continue growing by leaps and bounds,” said Mayor Todd Strange.
“What a joy it is to see our community continues to grow. We congratulate these companies on their achievements and thank each one for making Montgomery County their home,” said Montgomery County Commission Chairman Elton N. Dean Sr. “If it weren’t for these businesses, the River Region would not be what it is today. I stand here to say thank you and to vow constant support in the future. With the continuous effort and team work by business, county and city leaders, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”
At each stop on the tour company officials announced economic successes of 2017. JET Polymer Recycling announced $5 million dollars in investments and 37 new jobs. Montgomery Coca-Cola Bottling Company, a Division of Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED announced $28 million in investments and 48 new jobs, and Regitar U.S.A., Inc. announced $2.2 million in investments and 15 new jobs.
