Wednesday, May 22, 2019Today, TechMGM, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce’s (MACC) initiative to connect and leverage Montgomery’s unique technology assets, announced a partnership with the Air Force Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate Program Executive Office to host a new Air Force software development project that will offer private sector collaboration called BESPIN. Signifying a shift in the way the Air Force approaches software development and acquisition, BESPIN, an acronym for Business and Enterprise Systems Product Innovation, pairs in-house developers with private sector developers and uses an agile development methodology in a collaborative and innovative environment to turn projects into new solutions to support the Department of Defense. Thursday, March 7, 2019TechMGM, Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce’s initiative to connect and leverage Montgomery’s unique technology assets, provided hands-on STEM experiences to 200 students at the annual CampIT held on March 1, 2019 at Alabama State University. Sessions on cloud computing, cybersecurity, website design, robotics and more were given by industry leaders for students to learn, participate and engage in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Information Technology activities. This year’s event also featured an announcement by Alabama State University, the hosting educational institution of the upcoming Montgomery BEST Robotics Competition to be held from October 18-19, 2019. Read more(0) CommentsWednesday, January 16, 2019Today, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Todd Strange, County Commission Chairman Elton Dean and Alabama Power’s Southern Division Vice President Leslie Sanders announced the creation of a Smart City Living Lab in downtown Montgomery. It will feature fiber optic infrastructure and an expansion of the Open Data Portal, free public Wi-Fi in downtown areas, conversion of street lights to LED, a public safety initiative and deployment of smart parking solutions. Montgomery leaders announced the smart corridor will be formalized through the creation of the Montgomery Smart Community Alliance, a public-private partnership focused on advancing smart city initiatives in the City of Montgomery.
