By winning the Smart Cities Readiness Challenge, Montgomery will receive global recognition, new development opportunities and access to a year-long technology program. Read more(0) CommentsWednesday, January 16, 2019Today, the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce along with Mayor Todd Strange, County Commission Chairman Elton Dean and Alabama Power’s Southern Division Vice President Leslie Sanders announced the creation of a Smart City Living Lab in downtown Montgomery. It will feature fiber optic infrastructure and an expansion of the Open Data Portal, free public Wi-Fi in downtown areas, conversion of street lights to LED, a public safety initiative and deployment of smart parking solutions. Montgomery leaders announced the smart corridor will be formalized through the creation of the Montgomery Smart Community Alliance, a public-private partnership focused on advancing smart city initiatives in the City of Montgomery. Thursday, October 4, 2018Today, Montgomery leaders announced a pioneering move for the city’s economic development future. The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Mayor Todd Strange and County Commission Chairman Elton Dean announced in a press conference that the TechMGM initiative has been formally organized. Tuesday, April 3, 2018On April 13, 2018 over 100 Montgomery middle school students will have a chance to get one on one interaction with local leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math as well as Information Technology careers at Camp IT. This hands-on camp is organized by TechMGM, the partnership behind Montgomery’s technology strategy, with a goal of developing a strong workforce ready to create and work for innovative companies in Montgomery and the Montgomery AFCEA Chapter.
