Alabama K-12 students are encouraged to participate in VOICES for Alabama’s Children’s annual Kids Count Rally on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, from 10 AM to 2 PM on the South Lawn of the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery. VOICES will provide lunches and other snacks for registered attendees.
VOICES has set an ambitious goal of bringing more than 1,000 students from across the state to encourage lawmakers to prioritize the well-being of Alabama’s children by counting all kids in the state’s 2020 census report.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey; Del Marsh, the President Pro Tempore of the Alabama State Senate; Mac McCutcheon, the Speaker of the Alabama State House of Representatives; among others, have been invited to speak at the rally. Additionally, VOICES has invited state representatives and senators to join students from their home districts for lunch on the Capitol grounds. Participating students will have an opportunity to interact directly with their state lawmakers on this and other issues.
