A new book by Professor Edda Fields-Black — an exceptional work of American history — tells the story of one of Harriet Tubman’s most extraordinary exploits. The author joins us at The NewSouth Bookstore on Tuesday, July 23 at 5:30pm to discuss it. Combee is an account of the Combahee River Raid, an expedition of 150 African American soldiers led by Tubman into Confederate territory, who then rescued and carried back 700+ enslaved people. Members of the daring operation included the author’s great-great-great-grandfather. Join us for this exciting program featuring Dr. Fields-Black celebrating the release of her work.
