Montgomery, AL – Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) is proud to announce that it has been awarded $5 million in federal funding through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Terminal Program, made possible by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This grant will support vital improvements to MGM’s infrastructure, including the replacement of the inbound baggage system and an escalator. These improvements will enhance the passenger experience and increase operational capacity for MGM.

“These improvements are critical for enhancing the passenger experience at Montgomery Regional Airport,” said Robert H. Gould, Montgomery Airport Authority Chairman. “We are grateful to the FAA for recognizing the importance of this project to the airport and the community we serve.”

The $5 million grant will allow MGM to modernize essential systems and maintain efficient operations, ensuring that travelers continue to have a safe, reliable, and comfortable experience. The upgrade will also enhance the airport’s capacity to serve the growing regional air travel demand.

“Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is once again delivering results for Alabama’s 7th Congressional District by investing in airport facilities that will enhance travel for those who visit and live in our communities,” said Sewell.

“I would like to express my gratitude to our entire federal delegation, including Senator Katie Britt, Congresswoman Terri Sewell, Senator Tommy Tuberville, the FAA, and the MGM Board for their unwavering efforts in supporting Alabama’s air travel needs,” said Wade A. Davis, CM, Executive Director of Montgomery Regional Airport. “This project will benefit our passengers and the region for many years to come.”

The Airport Terminal program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is part of a national effort to modernize airport infrastructure and improve the safety and efficiency of air travel across the country. MGM is committed to using this funding to enhance its facilities and continue providing a high standard of service to the community.
