MONTGOMERY ZOO (Montgomery, AL): Celebrate the holiday season with a visit to the Planetarium! We are excited to announce that Santa Claus will be available to greet patrons and take pictures on select Saturdays during the Christmas season, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Join us for a memorable experience on the following dates:
- Saturday, November 30, 2024
- Saturday, December 7, 2024
- Saturday, December 14, 2024
- Saturday, December 21, 2024
During each visit, families will have the special opportunity for a brief meet-and-greet with Santa Claus. Families are welcome to capture these moments using their own cell phones or cameras. This event is free of charge; however, space is limited, and each child must have a ticket to participate. Tickets will be available at the Planetarium Gift Shop counter on the day of each event, with a maximum of 40 tickets issued per Saturday.
While at the Planetarium, enjoy the festive ambiance with Christmas music and captivating holiday visuals displayed on our dome. Make sure to visit the gift shop for holiday shopping and unique finds!
In addition to Santa’s special appearance, guests can enjoy our holiday shows, with tickets priced at $7.50 each (child or adult). The show schedule is each Saturday as follows:
10:00 AM - Kids’ Show: "The Alien Who Stole Christmas"
11:30 AM - Regular Show: "Season of Light"
1:00 PM - Kids’ Show: "The Alien Who Stole Christmas"

The W.A Gayle Planetarium is an educational facility that explores the Earth and space through a unique perspective including lightshows and presentations. We will begin running Saturday showings and additional advanced group reservations with the goal to extend hours of operation soon. The W.A Gayle Planetarium is a department of the City of Montgomery.
Admission: $7.50 per person (ages 3 and up)
