Alabama Municipal Electric Authority Begins New Year with New Name, Energy Southeast
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA—Effective January 1, 2025, the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA) is changing its name to Energy Southeast.
This is the first time since the group’s founding in 1981 that it has rebranded. The move follows the success of recent energy initiatives and partnerships that have expanded AMEA’s reach far beyond its headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama.
The organization is evolving to oMer new power initiatives. “We’re broadening our services, both functionally and geographically,” said Energy Southeast President & CEO Fred D. Clark, Jr. “We’re advancing the mission of public, locally owned power of all types.”
Energy Southeast will continue to provide comprehensive services to its current 11 Member communities across the state of Alabama while also serving other public power entities across the region.
“It’s all about helping cities and towns tackle the challenges of growth,” Clark said. “How do they address workforce and infrastructure issues while retaining the character of the neighborhoods, parks, schools and businesses they cherish? Energy Southeast is putting power behind their eMorts to achieve quality of place.”
