MONTGOMERY, AL – As part of National Telecommunications Week, the City of Montgomery proudly honored the dedicated professionals behind its Department of Emergency Communications during a heartfelt ceremony recognizing the telecommunicators who serve as the first, first responders in times of crisis.

“Being a telecommunicator is not just a job—it’s a profession,” said Bridgette Wright-Davis, Acting Director of Emergency Communications. “The men and women who do this work here in Montgomery—and across the nation—are the critical link between people in need and the help they depend on. They often don’t receive the recognition they deserve, but today, we’re proud to lift up every member of our Emergency Communications Department.”

The ceremony celebrated the service of all employees across the department’s three shifts, administrative staff, and maintenance teams, while highlighting outstanding individuals in four key categories:
    • 2025 Dispatcher of the Year: Jasmine Scott-Moseley
Employed since 2011 and recently promoted to Emergency Communications Supervisor, Jasmine is praised for her adaptability, professionalism, and strong leadership during staffing shortages.
    • 911 Operator of the Year: Tasha Jackson
A member of the department since 2020, Tasha is known for remaining calm and clear under pressure while delivering compassionate service during emergencies.
    • 2025 Supervisor of the Year: Shannon Campbell
With more than 30 years of service to the City of Montgomery, Shannon is recognized for her unmatched commitment, cross-training expertise, and support for interdepartmental projects with fire and police agencies.
    • 2025 Administrator of the Year: Valorie Cleveland
Since 2015, Valorie has served as a steady and positive force within the department, earning praise for her efficiency, warmth, and support of new staff members.

“These are some of the most demanding and high-stakes positions in local government,” said Mayor Steven L. Reed. “The men and women recognized today embody the kind of excellence, empathy, and professionalism we want representing the City of Montgomery. I want to congratulate each of the honorees—and emphasize how essential it is that we continue to recruit and retain the right people for these lifesaving roles.”

The department also celebrated the graduation of three new team members—PSCD Takaria Hardy, PSCO Desiree McKethern, and PSCO Tiyanna Walker—who completed 12 weeks of intensive academic and on-the-job training to become full-time operators.

As the department continues to grow, the City welcomed Emily Herring as the new Center Manager, bringing nine years of 911 experience from Autauga County, and Monique Duncan, who joined the administrative team under Department Administrative Officer Valorie Cleveland.

Montgomery is proud to shine a spotlight on the individuals who serve behind the scenes, answering calls for help with strength, professionalism, and heart. This National Telecommunications Week, we thank them for being the calm in the chaos, and the voice that brings help to those in need.
