MONTGOMERY, AL November 12, 2024 – Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOS) has been honored with the prestigious 16th Annual River Region Ethics in Business and Public Service Award for large companies by The Samaritan Counseling Center, Inc. in collaboration with the Auburn University at Montgomery’s (AUM) Office of Business and Community Initiatives.
Each year the Samaritan Counseling Center and AUM recognize those who demonstrate:
    • Engagement in community service and volunteerism
    • Longstanding history and general reputation in the marketplace for ethical business practices
    • Tone at the top of the organization that reinforces the importance of ethics.
    • Explicit set of core values that guide behavior.
“I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of our team, and we appreciate the Samaritan Center and AUM’s recognition of our commitment to serving the River Region community and always striving to do the right thing for our patients and employees,” said SOS CEO Jenna Roton.
With over 28 years of dedicated service in Central Alabama, SOS has been a pioneer in providing world-class orthopedic care since its founding in 1996.
SOS is in the process of seeking state approval for a new surgery center in Montgomery that will represent a significant advancement in their ongoing mission to enhance patient care.
The new facility ultimately will have six fully equipped operating rooms and two specialized procedure rooms, ensuring that SOS can efficiently accommodate a wide range of orthopedic surgical needs. Among its state-of-the-art features, the center will include a cutting-edge surgical robot for joint replacement procedures, which enable highly precise and minimally invasive surgeries, leading to quicker recovery times and improved outcomes for patients.
"Having a facility like this continues our commitment to putting patients first and is also important for the region's ability to recruit the best surgeons and healthcare professionals to serve those patients," said Dr. Roland Hester of SOS.
The new center is planned for development on Halcyon Pointe Drive at the Southeast corner of the intersection of I-85 and Taylor Road. If approved, the new facility should be open within the next two years.
